How Which hand wins? works
Each round deals ten pairs of hands on a shared board. Look at both players' hole cards together with the five community cards, then pick the hand that wins at showdown, or Split pot if they tie. After every answer you'll see each player's best five cards and the exact reason one hand beats the other.
Tips for a perfect round
- Check for flushes first. Count the suits on the board. With three or more of one suit, a flush is possible.
- Look for pairs on the board. A paired board makes full houses and four of a kind possible, and it can counterfeit a player's two pair.
- Find each player's best five, not their best two. Hole cards often don't play at all.
- When the hands match, go down the kickers. Only five cards count. A sixth card never breaks a tie.
Questions
What do I need to pass?
Eight correct answers out of ten. Every hand comes with the reason one hand beats the other, so a round you miss still teaches you something.
Are the hands random?
Not quite. They lean toward the spots that trip players up: kicker battles, split pots and hands that are only one rank apart.
Does this involve real money?
No. There's no betting, no chips to buy and nothing to win. The drills are for learning only.
