Five cards, three patterns
A poker hand is always five cards. What makes it strong is the pattern in them, and almost every hand comes from one of three:
- Same rank
- Two cards of one rank make a pair, three make three of a kind.
- 77
- Same suit
- Five cards of one suit make a flush.
- K9642
- Ranks in a row
- Five ranks in a row, like 5-6-7-8-9, make a straight.
